Root Ubuntu Touch

What would be really cool is for someone who knows how to get things to work is to get the Ubuntu Touch image and bring it onto this phone. There is someone working on it for the Evo 4G LTE. I wonder how much of a difference it would be to start where the ROM for that phone is at to make it work on the HTC Evo Design.

Just a really cool idea. Hope someone can maybe tackle it...

Very different, totally different phone and don't have much in common. Ubuntu touch is cool but there is a very low chance that this phone will ever see it :(

Okay I understand them being different phones,

but I am wondering why this phone will never see it? Is ubuntu touch only capable of handling GSM carriers?

Heck if i knew the process in porting things, I would try to do it myself but I'm kind a clueless on how people do that stuff...

Hardware and drivers, ubuntu needs a new kernel and set of drivers to run properly, along with many other things.

Look at the galaxy nexus, one of the most supported phones along with the nexus 4. They still haven't got data working yet... this device is one of least supported devices, you can see what I'm getting at. They will never officially support this device and the dev power to get everything working with an unofficial port isn't here. I've been messing with getting data working on the nexus and I can tell you its no easy job and that phone is completely open sourced unlike this one.

Anything is possible, but don't get your hopes up to see touch working properly on this phone.
