Do you think Verizonwireless will replace it? I do have the insurance.
I asked how they (Ascurion) could assure me that I would not receive a refurbed or re-manufactured device and she could not assure me of this.
WTF?
Is there any recourse?

For the record, it is indeed $89 through asurion.I use squaretrade for all my phones. Used it for company iPhones. Had a user take a knife (dont ask) to his iPhone screen and they replaced it free of charge in 4 biz days. Its cheaper and covers all the same things Verizon's does accept lost or stolen. If they cant fix it, they write you a check. I think I paid 68$ for 2 yrs coverage of my Eris. You dont pay any deductible, they just subtract it from your total coverage. Unlike with Verizon's where you must pay 70$ (I thought i was told 90$ by the rep when I bought my Eris) to get it replaced. Just my 2 cents.

As of yesterday...
SquareTrade for Eris Droid is $144 and the deductible is $50.
Verizon is $8/mo ($192) and $89 deductible.
And you're correct, SquareTrade does not cover loss/theft as it is not an insurance policy, just warranty.

Sorry if this is a little off topic but when at shattered, to clear up a thread on here is the screen glass or plastic thanks
I've always paid the same no matter how old the phone was or how it broke/lost/stolen. Smartphones are a $90 deductible. The deductible does not come out of your pocket. It comes out of the total net worth they put the value of your phone. Lets say they say the value of your phone is 399$. You send it in for repair cuz your screen shattered and cost to repair was 100$. They remove that 100$ for the repair from the 399$. If they cant fix it and they have to write you a check, they take out $50 from that $399. Yes, I know you still pay it when you have to rebuy the phone, but its not out of pocket per say.
And just to clarify, its $96 as of today for the Eris. The $144 is for the N1 and Droid (not the Eris) The $96 for 2yrs covers you up to 399$, which I believe is the value of our phones. Our value is not 599$ as stated for the $144 coverage.

Actually I'm talking about Asurion. Sorry, I missed the SquareTrade bit. That is through the Verizon insurance though, not Squaretrade. That is what you were talking about? And last year when I had a BB World Tour, deductible was only 50 or 70, wasnt 90,. I know that for a fact. This is insurance through Verizon.
Are you serious? Glass shards in your finger? Does it break easily? Holy crap.I had my droid eris for three days, it fell off of a table and the screen shattered. It still works, but I occasionally get glass shards in my finger. I hope it's covered under the insurance, but $89???
Does this phone break easily?? Is this thing going to break like this every time it hits the ground?
Our 3 phones, the Eris, iPhone 3GS and the Nokia E71 are all covered under my home owners policy. Each phone cost $8-10 a year to insure. Each phone is insured for $600.
No deductible, full coverage. Water damage, breakage, theft, anything. Those other companies are a complete rip-off.
If you cover the phone with your Homeowners insurance policy, any time you need to file a claim (for whatever reason) you file it against/with your HO policy. Prior claims, or the frequency of them, impacts your HO policy premiums. Also, what about your HO policy deductible per claim? For a cell phone, that's not worth it IMO. I'm not saying Assurion (or whatever it's called) is a better policy I'm just saying I'm not impacting my HO rates over a stupid cell phone.

+1
That could cost you a hell of a lot more than just buying the phone at retail price in the long run.
