Help UK 4.1.2 problem :(

So since upgrading my unlocked s3 via ota this morning i have discovered a problem, I have 1 message in my inbox as i cleared them to try and get rid of the problem but to no avail

backup your messages using sms backup+ (or 2nd rate equivalent) and wipe data on the messaging app?

Sorry to be pedantic, but you mean your unbranded s3, not unlocked

Yes i meant unbranded i have already tried the data wipe on messaging.

I really do not think i can justify a factory reset for this though

So now you have 0 messages but still unread count? What about now removing the icon / widget and re-adding it?

yep, however i have now finally fixed it.
Go to Settings > Application Manager > All applications (on the top). Locate the "BadgeProvider" app, once in there select "clear data";-) then go to ramn and clear memory and voila its fixed
