UK Firmware Update Today

it dont look like voda customers are going to get this update :( someone on there help site keep saying we dont need it #????

Yeah I know, the guy is an idiot. The more people that post over there that we want the update the more chance we have of getting it (however slim that might be).

i'm on vodafone but purchased the contract through CPW so it is an unbranded handset runnin I9300XXLFB

The brightness widget on the notification bar is a useful feature. I unclicked "auto" and it hss stopped the screen occasionally going dark.

I'm with 3UK, no update for me yet either, I'm sure it'll come :)

I wouldn't hold your breath. They didn't even release the last firmware update, let alone this one.
This is why I have flashed the phone with the stock Samsung firmware so will now get updates when they are released.
Having said that I rooted the phone last night, so may go down one of the custom rom routes soon anyway.
Cheers, Rich

Seriously?? My update took over an hour and caused my Mac to get so hot it felt like I could fry an egg on it (notice the 100%+ CPU usage).

And all for a brightness slider (as nice as it is to have) and some small tweaks to the keyboard. Hmmm...

I see you found it :)

I sure did !! Check out what Tom from Vodafone has said............. (check out my post too after his ha ha)

We received the latest Samsung Galaxy SIII maintenance after it had released for open market devices, and our initial testing phase is already underway.

The update contains numerous minor improvements and bug fixes and is the first major maintenance updates to be released by Samsung for the device.

We'll provide more timings on the availability of the update once Samsung has confirmed distribution details.

Thanks,

Tom

Thats good news and should shut the experts up over there that the update was bug fixes we already had :)

My Mac was doing this as well. The 'KiesViaWifiAgent' process did something similar when I first installed it - found it was a launch app, ate 90% of my CPU and decimated battery life. Samsung really need to sort out their Mac software. It's borderline unusable with this CPU usage.

I got the update but its nothing special. I noticed that afterwards, i now have to put a space after a word in a text to get an ! or ? rather than the option being there during typing. also the application manager is slower when swiping the apps to the side.

After you have typed your word,it should show up in blue inside the little bar where you usually see the ! and ? etc.

Tap on the blue word and it should then give you the option of adding a ! or ? without the need for the space bar. Soon becomes second nature.

Hi all
Ive had the latest update and now my space bar has to be pressed twice to put 1 space between words, and the attachment paperclip has moved onto the text message front screen which has shrunk the size if the text message box
Anyone know how to sort these?
I wish i had never done the update!!!
