UK Gingerbread 3 network out today

if i root, then install titanium, then remove the bloatware, can i then unroot and it still be bloatware free and kies wont have a problem with future updates?

yes thats exactly the steps i took when using 2.2 and updating to 2.3 and will work fine:cool:

Just noticed - Using titanium i Got rid of the bloatware and it freed up no space. Only from the internal rom?? not the useable internal memory?

and also - can i use titanium to move apps to external memory and if so how??

I freed up plenty of space getting rid of the bloatware, notably samsung apps. Still not sure how to move system apps with titanium but other apps can be moved by the batch process.

Make a back up then click back up restore, then the action button to batch then move/integrate

yeah mate use the link gammer put up for ya to unroot, for the apps prob' i think it free's space on your internal rom because its already set aside for the apps as they're stock, when you restart the device it should reclaim it as usable memory? titanium restarted my phone each time i clicked to uninstall a stock app, and then i got the memory as soon as it rebooted.

when you upgrade to 2.3 as said above it now seems g-maps and g-mail can no longer be sent to external like in froyo, im actualy starting to miss froyo i would happily switch the new little icons for 10-15mb extra internal mem':o:o

Hi Chismay & PJ147, I've been following the threads about Gingerbread & it seems there are a few probs! PJ147 how is your "3" upgrade going? Are you suffering the lag problem on unlock & proximity sensor etc..? If you see the separate thread "benefits of Gingerbread?" people are not too happy.
I'm waiting for the 02 carrier upgrade (still) & all they keep telling me is they are not happy enough with it to roll it out yet. Perhaps they are right to wait & have been following all the negative comments on forums? I'm beginning to wonder if I should just stick with my reliable & stable Froyo 2.2.1 which does what I need. What do you guys think?? Thanx. GrahamF. London :confused:

Hi,

I have had nothing but improvements with gingerbread. No lag, no proximity issues. Many improvements. The leaked rom bugs are not present in my offical rom. Even the sod big its now fixed!

Hope this helps!

Hey Graham, I recently brought a Galaxy Ace on o2, I'm quite happy with it the way is. I rather wait for o2 to release the official update than install something unofficial & ruin your phones warranty. There's nowt wrong with Froyo, it runs smoothly on our phones & you can save most apps to SD card:-)

I have updated to 2.3.3 via kies 3uk network, so far so good I no longer suffer from the screen going into sleep and not being able to wake it up unless i reboot. Only negative is that some of the games I have no longer work.

mate if your not getting many screen-of-death's and have used the adb command to set storage to sdcard i would def' stay with froyo hopefully there will be a adb workaround for this soon.

Does anyone have an original copy of Froyo for t-mobile so I can put mine back to factory. I have tried several Gingerbread version which work but are not in English and even when you change the language they still have foreign apps I can't uninstall. Would like some help with this please.

GAH! I saw this thread and didn't realise it was an old one. Thought 3 had changed their minds again and released the 2.3.5 update :(

It's ridiculous the way they have handled this update with all the broken promises.
