UK Now Classier than Ever!

Rather than the tradition three classes - Upper, Middle and Working - sociologist have now conducted the biggest ever survey into class in the UK and discovered FOUR NEW CLASSES!

Like any Brit needs to hear more than half a dozen words to have any other Brit precisely pigeon-holed - in fact, most could do it in one word if that word was say, what you call your evening or midday meal :)

Anyway, Auntie (the good ol' Beeb) has provided a handy on-line test to help you all determine where you fall in the new class hierarchy :D

Note:

I'm "Emerging service workers". I'm not young, I don't have a social life (never mind a cultured one) but I do rent my home, which seems to negate every other factor.

Apparently I'm a poseur because my CD collection includes some classical music, assuming that I just bought it to look posh. In reality I had classical music rammed down mt throat by my parents until I was old enough to buy my own records, but I didn't "throw the baby out with the bath water"; I do like some classical music, but hardly wear it on my sleeve.

I also noticed how a question about watching sports on TV got distorted into "playing sport". I probably got points off because I checked that I knew a college lecturer because there was no check box for "knows tenured college professors" (or physicians and surgeons). Hmmm. I also got marked down on my income, which was interesting because for all they know I could be a member of the British aristocracy living in a castle...

My marks for the test are "needs work".
