UK Returns Policy

Just thought I'd post this for anyone that's interested. I'll be buying a Nexus One in the UK soon but I was concerned that I'd have to ship it back to the US should anything go wrong with the handset.

I enquired about this and HTC said the following:

The phone itself will be sent back to our HTC service centre in the UK, this will ensure the return of the phone on the system and from there we can refund / swap / repair the phone as needed.

It seems fairly obvious but I wanted to make sure before purchasing. Puts my mind more at ease at least

How easy is it to get the VAT back if you get a refund? (as you paid separately)

that's actually a really good question and makes me hope that no one will ever have to find out. bet it is super complicated and you'll have to go through HM R&C to get it back as it was not paid by the supplier but you personally.
