umts:3 and hspa+

My phone keeps switching between these 2 in the same area. Umts3 and hspa+. Anyway I can fix this when phone is in umts3 internet is almost non existent. Is there maybe a way to
Lock phone in hspa+ only. This is on my Alcatel one touch fierce

Sounds like your in a fringe coverage area. Does it only happen indoors?

Happens pretty much everywhere and map showz good coverage for my area I am just outside of metro Detroit

I changed my APN to tmobiles APN and seems like it may have improved the situation. Not sure might just be a placebo affect.

Weird. You cant always trust tmobiles maps. They show my house as a strong lte area and even in my front yard my signal jumps from lte to hspa to edge back to lte down to edge lol did you just get the phone? Only other option it could be is an antenna problem.

It normally goes to UMTS when the data session is idle then goes to HSPA when the data session is active

My advice make it wcdma only once the testing menu buy using *#*#4636*#*# ..but watch the battery drain
