Unable to connect to 3G or 4G

I've seen this issue come up locally a lot. And I can't tell if it's a Verizon network issue, or a Spectrum issue. But my phone is practically useless unless I can find a wi-fi hotspot. I can't stay connected to the 3G nor 4G network for more than a second or two. Uploading pics, etc is 100% impossible. I've tried numerous times now, and without wi-fi it won't happen. The up/down arrows next to the 4G symbol won't stay lit for more than a second or two, now matter where I am. And I know I'm not the only person having these issue. My buddy has a brand new phone, different brand Android phone, and last night, was at the same place I was, and was completely unable to upload a photo from his phone. He couldn't do it until we got back to my house on wi-fi. And Verizon supposedly as a strong network around this town, Raleigh NC. But I'm hearing from more and more people that they have zero luck using 4G. Hell, I can't even stay connect to 3G...and cant help but wonder if part of the [problem isn't the Spectrum. Can Verizon's network really be THAT bad?

i had a similar issue this weekend having real spotty 4g connection. it would come and go, the only constant was if i turn data off and then back on i would have a connection, but it would drop and the phone wouldnt automatically switch to 3g. I changed my network setting to cdma only and had a phenominal 3g connection like -46db. After that it held the 3g connection the rest of weekend and worked great.

If you havent yet try switching the network type to cdma only.

it sounds like it could be a network issue maybe verizon is doing some work to their towers that would be my best guess have you tried calling about this? that is what i would suggest and see whats going on
HTH

With a 4G device having to use 3G seems really...well counterproductive. Ive also been having bad data connection recently, not sure if its due to work on their towers or what. I've been putting it airplane mode, and disabling data connection with limited results. Try powering it down, removing SIM card, reinserting it, and power on. If all else fails go to VZW and try to get a new SIM card(I think I may be going and doing this)

yes and no... i live in a 3g area and it will actually help battery life with the mphone in cmda only. But if its a difference of having a spotty on and off 4g versus a solid 3g connection, ill take the 3g all day long.

It may be a network issue. I went to GA yesterday and hit 2 or 3 different 4g markets on the way and had no issues holding a 4g connection. That or congestion maybe? It was St. Pete beach when i was having connection issues, a very over crowded area.

I get what your saying about using 3G if it works better. I personally live in a 4G area normally good signal etc, but what I meant is that considering we are bought a 4G device, if we live in an area with 4G coverage we shouldnt have to use 3G just to get a working data connection.

i agree to an extent, LTE is still relatively new and i would expect there to be connection issues here and there still whether it be network or phone. Once everything is converted and its all LTE then there better not be any connection issues.

Yep...Verizon advertises my area completely smothered in 4G service. Why should I have to use 3G? But even the 3G connection is crap! It won't stay connected to either signal more than a few seconds at a time. I'll try to suggestions mentioned above, and will probably end up at a Verizon store again.

If you have good 4G or 3G or both service in another area, then likely, you have an issue with the towers in your area.

I have no issues with network connection, and am on 4G 90% of every month. I do however have problems with data from fine to time, telling me I am not connected to the internet, but I think that is another problem that I may have caused myself.

Since removing sim card yesterday afternoon I've had no issues with a slow data connection. I can't say for sure if this was the solution but as of now it appears to have helped

Please disregard last post since your just taking it to a Verizon store they won't care/ know so you should be fine if the phone was to be damaged or had to be sent in for repairs then return to stock would be necessary
Again sorry for the wrong information

Ya I don't think I would unroot if I took it in, but just curious to see what you guys think. Mine seems to still be working good so we will see
