Help Unable to Detect/Connect USB Peripherals

Hi all,

First time poster here, but I've been reading the forums for a while to get comfortable. I hopefully have a pretty straightforward question for you all about a feature that's claimed to exist on Ice Cream Sandwich.

Since the ICS upgrade, I've been doing a bit of research on the capabilities that this new version possesses, and learned that this version supposedly supports USB peripherals such as keyboards, mice, and even game-pads. Of course, I immediately set out to test this theory, but was more than slightly disappointed as (after purchasing an OTG cable,) nothing happened when plugging in a USB Keyboard. (As in, nothing was detected, and no power was sent to the keyboard that was now plugged in.)

Now, based on what little information I could glean from random YouTube videos and assorted forum posts on other websites, I was under the impression that ICS did a fantastic job with automatically detecting and enabling a keyboard or mouse with basic functionality. With that knowledge, I immediately inspected the cable I had purchased...only to discover that the cable seemed to work just fine if I used it for charging. Confused, I turned to the Internet again for answers.

After a bit more searching, I stumbled across an app called "USB Host Diagnostics", which I ran on my device. (A fair warning - The program requires root access to run properly.) Unfortunately, since I've created a new account I'm unable to post screenshots, and I can't exactly show what was displayed on the program.

In lieu of that, what was displayed is the following: The program provided information that the Android API does indeed claim support as well as have the proper classes installed for it to work. The Rooted API claims support, and the Kernel claims support as well. In all cases though, the device was not detected.

Since it appears that the software has been rated to handle USB Peripherals, but since nothing is detected when plugged in, I started to become skeptical. I then tried the last thing I could think of, and performed a factory restore my device, just in case some settings weren't working correctly due to the upgrade. Once reset, USB devices still failed to be detected.

Now, my true question here is this; Would the community know what needs to be modified or enabled for the Droid Razr MAXX to detect USB devices? Any knowledge at all would be appreciated.

Thanks!
