unable to end a Google map process

A process keeps on running of google maps even when i am not using maps. when i stop it from application manager >running services it starts again in 1 sec. I even tried to use astro task killer.I am unable to end this process

You won't be able to end the process. It is used for network locations with various apps, once an app requests your network location it will start back up and may be needed by the OS to run properly.

In general you shouldn't be too worried about running services with android since the OS will terminate running services that are not needed as memory is needed
