Help Unable to make in-app purchase; will not recognize correct password.

dkgoodman

Lurker
I switched my Straight Talk account from my LGL31L to an iPhone.

I have kept my LG phone and am using it as an MP3 player for my audiobooks.

I was able to download the Smart Audiobook app and it plays my books just fine. (very hard to get my books into this app, though)

I would like to upgrade to the "Full version" of this app, but the "in app" site will not recognize my password, even though my Google Account is synched with this phone.

I am at a loss as to how to proceed.

Thank you for any suggestions.

Do you have more than one Google account? Make sure you are using the right password. If that fails, you can go to myaccount.google.com and change your password. Then change the password on the phone. After that, you should be able to make the in-app purchase in Play.

I only have the one account. I already went to my account and my password is accurate. Only the in-app insists that my password in wrong. When I hit the button to check the password, it throws me back out of the app, where my password is recognized. But I can not upgrade the app (Smart Audiobook Player) from the Google play store....only from within the app.

Silly question.... But you did download the app from the Google Play Store originally?

Not silly at all; but...I did download the app from the Google Play Store.

I have posted my problem to the Google Play Help Forum but have yet to hear back.

Seems so odd that if I am "outside of this app", my password is recognized but within the app (where I have to make the purchase) my password isn't recognized. One would think Google Play would want to be sure not to lose a sale...

I think this has to do with how you have set up google wallet. I had a similar prob a while back but forget what I did to fix it.

imho wallet is the thing in google that you set up with a credit card that allows you to buy things. Unfortunately I can't help further - the app I recently used to buy add-ons just shows "purchased" so it won't give me a clue as to how I did it. I do seem to remember that before it worked, I went to wallet and added a virtual cc, and then it worked. I think it (on phone) asked me to verify the last 4 and then allowed it. (I always use virtual numbers on wallet.)edit(my credit card company allows me to create a virtual credit card that expires in about a month, and optionally with a credit limit (like a couple dollars more than what you're buying) )

to get to google wallet, just type google wallet, click on wallet, sign in with your regular password, and make changes as needed.
