Help Unable to open Google+ direct from the Google Play Store!

Should we be able to open Google+ straight from the Google Play Store?

When I go to the Google Play Store ---> Menu ---> My Apps then go to my up-to-date applications and then click on Google+ I then have 2 options of Open and Un-install, but the issue is when I click on Open the whole screen dulls with a smallish rectangle box in the middle of the screen with the words OK & Cancel, if I click on OK it then says Item not found with retry underneath, and if you click on Retry again it comes back again and again.

I know it can be opened by clicking directly on the app on the home screen, but curious as to why it doesn't open direct from the Google Store like the others do such as gmail.

I notice that someone has a similar situation on this link below.

Have you tried the old cache clearing regimen in Play Store on your device, yet? Once you do that, reboot then try Google + from there again.

Sorry, but I don't use Google + so I can't test it for you. Perhaps we'll hear from others. :)

Tried that just now, still no joy. Would it do any harm clearing the data?

Google+ is installed in the phone by default.
If you delete the update or try to uninstall Google+ from app store than you will be able to open it from app store. But once you update it again you will not be able to access it again.
That is not a problem.
But if you are so in need to do that than I suggest to you to root your phone than uninstall Google + and finally visit app store and install it from there.
Problem solved.

So deleting the update and un-installing are both of the same thing then that lead it back to its original state.

I have a funny feeling though that I have already tried what you have said and it still didn't work, I also tried earlier removing data and cache for the Google Store, Google Play services and Google services Framework but still had the same issue.

Actually after I did this I couldn't get back into the Google Play Store at all even on the shortcut, but after I rebooted the phone and tried again I received the terms and conditions to accept and it installed...phew!!

So you are saying that it should open in the store when the updates have been removed?

Also do you know if this Google+ is pre-installed in the Samsung Galaxy Ace as well as the Ace 2 ? as I ask this because I got someone to check their phone that has the Samsung Galaxy Ace and they said that the Google+ didn't show up on their Google Play Store at all.

Hi,

Yes you are quite correct, I tried it again and it opened when I took the un-install option which as we know doesn't actually remove it but puts it back to the earlier version.

Why is it that after the update it doesn't let you open it again from the Play store though? is it because it wasn't from the play store originally, and will this happen to other apps that were pre-installed on the phone and that are subsequently updated through play?

Yes is something to do with not being installed from the play store.
As far as I am aware is only the Google+ that behaved in this way.
I never experienced anything similar with any other app.
Maybe is something to do with the massive update that the app received since is a completely different beast from the original that Google gives to the Manufacturer's "Samsung".
I used to be very annoyed about it. especially when I tried to open Google+ from the internet browser.
All is fixed now with JB.

Google+ was pre installed on my last Samsung Galaxy Ace GT5830i.
And was visible on the play store.
Unless if your friend has a earlier version of the ace ???
I have no idea :D lol
