Help unable to root tmobile Samsung galaxy s2

My device T-Mobile Samsung galaxy s2 SGH-T989
Jellybean 4.1.2

I followed the instructions here at the last post because the jellybean. All went well until when it says to reboot then select system and it will be able to read that the phone is unrooted, but it doesn't and just reboots.

Superuser did install, but upon using titanium it says no root.

If anyone has had a similar incident and has fixed it or has a solution please help. Thanks.

Ok so here's what's going on as of now. I DID root this phone. What I did was flashed it to stock firmware. Then following the provided guide I was able to root the phone. So my suggestion to anyone who has tried to root the phone but ends up in the same place as me, flash it to stock then follow that guide. Where I may have gone wrong was following a guide and get halfway and a link to download not work and I tried to find same file elsewhere.

Opening titanium it was taking forever (about 10-15m) during asking for root rights..... eventually the pop up comes and you grant it.
I restarted and loaded titanium again a lot faster but still a little slow.

Overall..... my phone is now rooted. It works. Thanks for the guide and helping out. I hope my situation can help someone else.
