Help Unable to set up push Yahoo on Epic Touch

KuMotif

Lurker
Hey guys,

Anyone know what can be done so that Yahoo push email can be setup on my Samsung Epic Touch??

I am using K-9 mail and I have tried everything to no avail. Of course, I am always doing a manual setup and selecting IMAP option. I get all my folders and emails when I first set up, but nothing pushes after that automatically. I always have to do a manual refresh. AOL seems to work fine with K-9. I have a feeling that Yahoo push does not work well with Samsung.

I did try the Yahoo mail for Android app, but that is a serious battery drain!

Push email setup should be less complicated going from a BB to a Samsung android.

All help regarding this is really appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

What are you using for the imap setting?

I think it auto configures the wrong info (it did for me at least)

Try these settings:

Incoming Server - imap.mail.yahoo.com
Incoming Port - 993 (requires SSL)
Outgoing Server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
Outgoing Port - 465 (requires SSL)
Username: full email address (username@yahoo.com)
Password: is the password you login to Yahoo! with

Good luck and please report back..

Raqball,

I tried the settings you provided. Again same results. The messages get downloaded once but after that push email does not work as expected. I send emails from various non-Yahoo accounts to my Yahoo account as a test, but I don't receive my emails on my Samsung Epic Touch unless I do a manual refresh.

You are absolutely sure these settings should work for an Epic Touch 4g correct??

And the polling I have set it to 'Never' because I want it to be push email. During manual setup I also made sure the checkbox for Enable Push email for this account is checked.

Any other ideas?

Thank you for all your help so far.

I have the same phone and that is the settings that I am using with no issues...

Have you checked the setting to auto download every so often? I have mine set for every 30 minutes...

Sorry I can't be of more help...

Kris,

So basically, I need to set a polling of some interval instead of 'Never.' This is completely contrary to push email. I will receive an email only every 20 or 30 minutes as per the interval set. I wish I could get an email the moment someone sends me one...just like it used to work on my BlackBerry.

Thank you for all your help! I do appreciate it...

The gmail app will do push but Samsungs mail app wont... The Samsung mail app needs to have a time frame specified...

Hope that helps!

Gmail and Ymail apps notify immediately upon receipt of new messages, but you are correct in that they drain more than k-9. But did you mention that aol notifies of new msgs immediately?
