Root Unable to Shut Down Cleanly

I have a SGH-I727R that was rooted using Odin/CWM as per the instructions here- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1340526

I was having some issues with not reading the SIM, and determined that it was a hardware issue- a pin was missing from the SIM reader.

Before sending it in for service, I did a FACTORY RESET (bad move) to clear the various settings for security purposes. The SIM reader is now fixed, but it looks like the reset put be back into a stock configuration, unrooted.

I reapplied the root process as before to re-root the device.

My problem is that the phone will not shut down, or restart cleanly. Any attempt to do so starts the shut down process, but the phone is frozen on the red "Rogers" screen.

The only way to unfreeze is to pull the battery. I have tried clearing the various caches, but no luck.

Any suggestions please?
