I cannot sync between android phone and gmail contacts. It was all going well until I decided to do a cleanup of contacts on Gmail. I deleted some contacts and edited others. Mostly, I ensured they were all in the same format ie firstname secondname.
After that, with nothing else changed, the contacts would not sync whatever I do. I have followed meticulously the "solutions" at gmail and on other sites but without success. I have removed any apps which could be a problem and moved back to standard Email and Contacts.
I am pretty experienced but this has me stumped. In the meantime, I have exported a vcf file to my sd card and now have some contacts back on the phone.
My phone is a newish UMI IronPro (rooted) which is on Android 5.1. Willing to try anything (except factory reset!)
