Unable to tap the clock

Just recently my Huawei P20 Pro upgraded the EMUI to 9.0.0. Android ver is 9.
After this upgrade, my startscreen widgets (in this case my clock widget) started to make trouble. First I thought the problem was about the widget itself but I soon find out that no matter which clock widget i installed the same thing happened - i could no longer tap the clock to get in to the clock settings And I use that very often if I am making food and want to set the timer, or just setting the alarm clock for work.

Is this localised to just Huawei or does anyone of you experience the same?

I think it may be part of Android itself as I have the same thing on my Pixel 2 XL.

I used to just be able to tap the clock in the status bar but then it broke in Android 9. I have found that if I pull down the notification shade, I can then tap the clock there.

Thanks for the answer and a workaround. :)
But I think I have used android 9 for a while before this happened though (not sure) . It was immediately after i said yes to upgrade EMUI that it happened.

Are you sure that EMUI wasn't updated from 8 Oreo to 9 Pie? It's also possible that one of the Android 9 updates changed that. Honestly, I stayed on Oreo for months after Pie was released, so it's possible that it was still there in the earliest releases of Pie. There were several pie updates before I ever switched to pie. So for me, it was like that as soon as I updated.
