Help Unable to update

I'm am currently running Version 2.2.20 and an unable to update to 2.3.20. The update was tried with both the phone rooted and unrooted (not that it should matter). Is there any way to manually update the phone? Or maybe some other option that I missed?

When the phone reboots after trying to update, it just says "update unsuccessful"

When you rooted did you remove any apps?
The update fails if the preinstalled apps aren't in place.

I put the apps back and it worked! Thanks!
