Help unable to upgrade to 2.2

downloaded the new KIES, however mid way thru the upgrade error came up saying check internet connection.. Disconnected phone, did a factory reset, pulled out battery and restarted phone... still works... but really wanted to know if am doing anything wrong.. how do i upgrade to 2.2 in India
