Help Unassigned contacts

Ok so why do I get unassigned contacts. I realize its from Facebook but never had this issue with My HTC Desirre HD

Why do I have to manualy link them?

you can turn off syncing of the facebook contacts to the phone contacts. (likewise any other account in the settings)

Yes I realIze that but I like the idea of sync. Just not sure why getting into a newer phone I'm going bacKwards in ease of use. In this area anyway.
