Undoing my update

:eek:I know this may sound dumb but I've had nothing but problems with my new update to android version 2.2.1. Is there any way to undo and go back to the previous version? The other issue I had, not being very smart about rooting I rooted my phone to access wi fi tether and then updated the new version without unrooting and now my rooting and wi fi tether isnt working. PLEASE HELP A DUMMY that has really got herself in deep! Thanks in advanced. I may not know alot but can follow step by step directions pretty well. Please help!

It sounds to me like you might not want to undo the update. When you update you loose your root access so any apps that require root (like tether) need you to root again.

I'm not sure how you did it last time but I've always used Universal Androot. I'm not sure if there is a newer version than that one. If your phones supported I'd recommend that.

If your phones not supported I'd go over to all things root and find out how to root your device from there.

Of course there's always a way to go back to the previous version but without root you usually can't back up any app data you have (like saved games, sms messages, etc...

Edit: Oops universal androot doesn't work with 2.2.1 I'd still recommend just rooting your device through some other method.

Edit2: Looks like z4root might work OK for you, although it doesn't specifically say whether it works with 2.2.1
