Help uninstall XWKK2 Update

Lurker
Hi
A week ago or so the firmware update XWKK2 (2.3.6) was made available for me to download on my Galaxy S2. So I downloaded and updated my phone

Resetting to factory settings does just that: It resets your settings to default factory state.

What you need to do is flash an older stock firmware to get 2.3.5 back.

Check out this thread for more details on flashing stock firmware. Remember that what you download has to be the same country as your phone. So based on you updating to XWKK2, I'd download and flash XWKI4 (it's about halfway down the page).

I have also recently updated firmware to KK2 or 2.3.6 and I think it's a major improvement on battery life compared to 2.3.3 that I was running before. Wifi Sharing no longer stays on when Wifi is actually turned off.

Did you tap through to the battery usage graph to find out which app is soaking up the most power. At the rate you are talking about it sounds like an errent app that needs to be updated or is slightly incompatible?

The display seems to be taking up a lot of the juice.... but I haven't changed any settings since the update.
And I don't have an explanation for the widgets resetting itself ... or why the screen changed to a green tint....?

I'm new to this Android realm so you will have to excuse my noobness.

Display usually does soak up battery - but for the usage you are talking about it sounds like some app is waking up the phone frequently through the night. If you tap on the battery graph one more time it should show you periods for Awake, and Screen On. Try to get familiar with the list in settings, applications, running services. I have a few I'm on the look out for, eg. bad programming some of these are on when they should really turn themselves off such as the one I have SugarSync. It tried to synch to the cloud even though I tell it to only when I have wifi connected. So sometimes I kill the service to make sure it does not suck the battery. (admittedly they seemed to have improved with recent updates).

Anyway there are plenty of sloppy programs that do this. Also look out for the crapware that the cell network providers put on there - they are not known for their efficiency. It's not the SGS2 per say , just the stuff loaded on it. Search around the forums knowledge is the key. Now my overnight discharge is more like 5%
