Uninstalled app reducing internal storage

I tried installing some games from the Humble Bundle. They install through the site's app, but not with any great success.

After I tried install one such game today, the app seemed to crash and the game didn't install. However, I did get a warning that my internal memory (which was at about 17mb, I have an HTC :() had sunk to below 15mb.

Resetting the phone didn't clear this, and I have no indication through App2SD that any new applications are installed or that any existing application has increased appreciably in size.

I was wondering if there's any way to clear out this apparently used memory.

Try clearing your caches first using recovery, then perform a reset.

My Desire is entirely stock, running Android 2.2.

I tried a system reboot, but the low storage icon is still there. App2SD reports no cache to clear.

Definitely switching from an HTC come contract renewal time.

I don't think apps2sd can clear the Dalvik cache, which is most likely where the memory is being held. That you should do from recovery.
