Universal Car Phone mount

Hello folks,

Just curious anybody has a recommendation for universal car phone mount. There is a http://androidforums.com/android-ac...iversal-smartphone-car-mount-w-lots-pics.html but other than that, does anyone have suggestion, esp. the cheap ones from eBay?

Since the weather is good now, I am planning few time lapse videos as we travel, so the camera place must remain open.

Thanks in advance.

I think you are answering your own question, I don't even have to post links anymore since you posted my review link already :D

As I said before, why would you want to put your $600+ phone into a cheap car mount that will last a few weeks? I have mentioned in the past about that cheap ebay clip as an alternative, but only for a short trips. When you travel and especially if you want to use your phone as a dashcam, why would you risk it? Beside, how much are you going to save buying ebay junk over something like MG2 which is under $20 anyway and comes with a warranty and top premium parts, including that insane sticky base mount? ;)

The same with phone cases, you want something better quality than ebay. When you get a new phone, just buy a cheap tpu case for the first week until you decide which permanent case you like better. Shop around and wait for a week or two when prices drop (a lot of case companies go 50% down from MSRP price).

But anyway, for car mount and especially used as a dashcam - "stick" with MG2 :D

I agree with not putting in in a 'cheap' mount, but there are plenty of inexpensive mounts that have lasted me a long time. The one I currently have has lasted over a year, and has never fallen off or anything like that. Check out this one amazon.com/B00INF8L46. I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a 'cheaper' mount that is still dependable.

Good luck in your search.

That's a clip mount I was talking about as well ;) Except you can get it on eBay for about $2 plus change shipped free. If you have a slim case and no extended battery, this one works, although with my Note 2 on a few occasions going over potholes or speed bumps the phone shifted (almost dropped it).

Yeah I know what you mean. Are you sure theyre the same exact mount though? I usually buy boxwave just because I have never had an issue with any of their products, and theyve always worked fine for me. I would probably recommend a mount with a base 'foot' plate for anyone with a 'phablet' or bigger device, because the clip is meant more for smaller phones ive noticed. Thanks for the heads up! Ill have to check out the one youre talking about.

Boxwave doesn't manufacture anything. Just like a lot of other companies, they buy in bulk and re-brand it, with everything they sell. But they do have some quality control to make sure products are working as expected, and obviously offer a warranty with their products, something you won't get buying from ebay.
