Unknown Notification Icon

[squidboy62]

I have a unknown icon that appears to be a face with either a explanation point or the number one. It is on my daughters locked phone. Looks like the face you see if using droid razor, peoples/contact field. Any idea what app or product?

thx

Welcome to the forums squidboy62 :ciao: Hopefully we'll be able to get to the bottom of your problem.

Are you able to post a screenshot at all as it'll be easier to determine what it is?

If you pull down the notification bar is there a notification that relates to it at all?

Has your daughter installed any apps lately?

Hello and welcome.

It would also be helpful if you listed the model phone, the version of Android and your carrier. Every phone is specific to these attributes if running stock. If you've modified it in anyway, then it could be anything.

this could be another example of an airpush ad notification. back in my days of Virgin Mobile tons of different icons represented the Airpush ads, and came with the software in the phone (one reason i rooted and wiped/flashed that sucker!) and they can be anything from a star, heart, or some weird anime 'face'. that last one sounds like it.

I recommend going to the Play Store and installing a free app named 'Airpush Detector'. it will display any instance of them, and could be part of some app you installed recently or something built-in the phone (especially from a low-tier prepaid service like Virgin or Boost)
