Unlock HTC hero on orange

Can someone point me in the right direction to debrand and unlock my htc hero?

I have allot of computer knowlage, used to unlock the iphone when the first unlock came out. So if its complicated dont worry haha.

Just need pointing in the right direction

You should try contacting Orange to get an unlock code, they may charge you a small fee but at least it's unlocked

Spoke with a guy at Orange, said they can give a unlock code but not so early on in the contract and they do charge for the code . I wasn really listening but something about only in the last 6 months of a contract.

Take a look at this thread and see if you think it is worthwhile. I'm glad I did mine but it was quite nerve-wracking.

I've written a little guide for this now, it assumes you know a little about the Android system, particularly using adb from the Android SDK package and installing the relevant drivers to talk to your phone through debug mode
