Unlock VM F3 for foreign SIM Cards

Lurker
I have the F3 from Virgin Mobile USA. I'm currently trying to unlock it so that I can use my German SIM card. I got an unlock code through unlockphone.me and they give the usual instructions to turn on phone with a not accepted SIM card and wait for it to ask for a password. That doesn't happen on my phone.
If I use their shortcode #0111*CODE#, nothing happens, same goes for the alternative that I've seen on the web #0111*CODE#, as well as the prompt 2945#*modelno.# to get to a menu that would let me enter the key.

Now, I have tried this with my phone in different states as well, at first with the Virgin Mobile ROM and the V6 firmware, then I flashed it and installed the Cyanogenmod flavored ROM that I found somewhere in this forum, and after accidentally bricking it, I unbricked the phone and have reset it to factory status, now on the V5, and it still doesn't work.

I am able to access the hidden menu with the shortcode 3845#*720#, but I can't find an option to enter a SIM unlock code. Can anybody help?

Not positive but think you may be out of luck. The VM sim is for proper lte operation. The VA f3 is CDMA technology.

I think you are needing a GSM style phone. I am not positive but believe T-Mobile f3 version is GSM.

I do not think the sim you have will work on a CDMA phone /network.
