Unlock your Orange locked Hero (no rooting)

I have been struggling for nearly 8 weeks (since Christmas Day) to try and get my Orange Hero unlocked (without rooting it). Orange insisted i had to be a customer for 3 months before they would give me a code but still would not refund the

You have to use the Modaco rom.

I didn't. I just updated rom to .66 and unlock code worked. thats the point of the .66 rom i think.
