Unlocked Hero on ATT - Data Not Working

Jseven

Newbie
Recently bought the HTC Hero Unlocked White Teflon version. Had an iPhone 3G with the unlimited Data/ Text plan. I called and asked them to enable the MMS feature early since it is blocked for iPhone users. So they dropped me down to a regular data plan which did not work. Then upgraded me to a smartphone data plan. And I called again to reactivate to an iPhone plan. Called numerous times. Reinstalled the sim on the iPhone data is active. I have done all the usually remove sim card/ factory reset. About as much as I can do on a mac OS wise. They still cannot seem to get my data to work. Any ideas. Much appreciated.

Did you set up the below? I used a sim from my blackberry that I use from work, but still had to set up the below information to get everything up and running properly. My only issue is that I can't send SMS for some reason at all.

from the home screen, hit the menu key.
tap on settings.
tap on wireless controls.
tap on mobile network settings.
tap on access point names
hit the menu key.
tap on new APN.

tap on name and give the data connection any name you like
fill in the appropriate fields for your carrier by tapping on them. if a setting is not listed for your carrier below, leave the default setting.

I'm sure have, but did you check your SMS Service Center #?

iPhone and Smartphone are the same. Smartphone although does not come with any provisions that the iPhone plan might have ( MMS activated ). It works perfect now. I know there is a post about this on these forums...but EDGE in NYC/NJ is fast...I mean faster than on the iPhone 3G by a wide margin.
