unlocked HTC legend froyo update?

Hi guys,
I have an unlocked Bell mobility HTC legend, using it on the Rogers network. It is still branded to Bell.
When Bell mobility releases the froyo update, will i recieve notification even though i am using it on a different carrier?

I've been hearing different opinions on this, so if anyone could clairify this that would be great.

If you update your phone with Bell, then your phone will be locked again.
