I want to unlock my Galaxy S2 so that I can use local sim cards when I visit non-EU countries such as Croatia.
Everything I read tells me that I can only unlock my phone if it's rooted. Is this the case?
My provider, T-Mobile UK, tells me that it can unlock my phone for a fee, but perhaps it doesn't understand that it may need rooting?
I have recently upgraded my firmware to ICS 4.0.3, which has gone smoothly and everything is fine.
I am aware of what's needed to root by the way and have saved the necessary applications just in case (Odin etc.) but am loathe to use them unless absolutely essential. I am perfectly happy with my phone in its current un-rooted mode.
Thanks.
