Unlocking and rooting the phone does give you access to the device's root system files; but that's all it does.
It seems to me that whatever provider you choose will have to reflash the phone with their Optimus S stock image, which will replace the radio firmware and programming to their network.
But there are limitations: A CDMA phone like Sprint (I believe) can only go on another CDMA network (like Verizon) and not a GSM network (like T-Mobile, AT&T and the rest of the world). This is due to the frequency range of the radio hardware... you couldn't flash a GSM phone to a CDMA network any more than you can expect to pick up FM radio on your TV set. They're completely separate frequency bands in the spectrum.
i have given my phone in a different provider to network update, they did it but i cant send sms to any number. but it is emergency to send sms to activate my rim. what can i do? will it support bangladeshi cdma provider?
