Help Unmute media?

I'm having a problem with the media volume on my s3. When I put the phone into mute or vibrate mode and then put it back to sound the media always seems to stay mute and I would have to mess with it to get the sound back. Now the media muted itself randomly without me even putting the phone on silent and it wont unmute. I just got the phone last Thursday and haven rooted it or nething like that. Any help would be appreciated

Once you open a media file, the volume buttons let you adjust media volume and not phone volume.

the volume levels go up and down but media still stays muted even if u turn it all the way up

You have a settings button on the slider when you use vol keys. Try that.

I am having the same problem on my Note 2. Tried everything and cannot unmute media

The volume settings show Ringtone, Media, Notifications, and System. I can adjust all but Media

if you are using the stock video player i think something is wrong if i toggle down to 0 its mute than i can toggle back up and the sound comes back

I have the same problem on my Xperia Z. It happened after I downloaded tiny tower
