Anyone know a good Tasker/on{X} comparison ? Most of what I've seen are people used to Tasker who basically go "I liked this one app that I'm super comfortable with and know the ins and outs of better than this new app that I'd never used before and spent 10 minutes trying to get to work as well as the one I spent all last year fine tuning", i.e. not exactly unbiased.
I don’t claim to be unbiased. I match your description perfectly – spent a year with Tasker and 10 minutes googling On{x}.
I can only offer thoughts for your consideration. You be the judge of what you think will be best for you. What you decide makes no difference to me.

Tasker 13,000 reviews, average rating 4.6

On{x} 3,000 reviews, average rating 2.8
Advantage: Tasker
Tasker allows you to generate an apk so you can share your creation as an App. Does On{x} do that? (I’m not sure but I don’t think so). Advantage Tasker
Tasker has a big user community with lot of support available here and on the google groups etc.
On{x} requires log-in with facebook? Advantage Tasker.
Tasker requires the majority of programming done on the device. On{x} is primarily programmed on pc to my understanding. Advantage On{x}
Most will lsay Tasker has a steep initial learning curve. I’m guessing On{x} may be quicker to get up and running, but less powerful in the long run. Don't know why, that's just my vague impression from what I've read.
All in all, it's hard to ignore the difference in Google Play rankings.
You might plow through a few pages of the Google Play comments on each to see what people are saying.
If you want to continue to discuss, you might create a separate post in this forum and move your comments there. I'll be glad to move my comments there. I don't think this belongs in the FAQ sticky thread.
