unregistered application

I have a third party app that does not want to load from a network location. No issues when installing the .apk file. I've checked it to allow for non-market applications but this doesn't seem to matter. any suggestions?

What is the app, and the message?

You say you have installed the apk, so I'm guessing that the problem is that the app isn't working.

Without knowing more we can't really help.

But you managed to launch the app, did you?

the proprietary app was successfully installed outside of the network location. However, we want to make it available for download on our company website (via the network server). It was during this action the application will not launch. error message is:

"Unregistered Application" this application can no longer be used. please install registered version of the application.
if you do not have registered version, contact your developer to obtain one."

Could there be some missing code that enables the launch when downloading from a server? I checked another Android page and read that some network providers do not allow users to download application from unknown sources.

You haven't said what the app is. It *sounds* like it's checking its registration when it has a network connection, and deciding it's an unregistered copy. Assuming you got it from a legit source it could be a technical problem, in which case you should contact the developer.

Do you have the developer's agreement to distribute it via your company website?

It's a business app and we hired the developer to write the app for Android. My business owns the code. the developer was aware of our method of delivery. it sounds like, from what you are saying, sufficient code does not exist with which to allow this method of delivery.
