Help Unresponsive screen

I have a Samsung Galaxy S5. Its only been dropped twice about 7 months ago. Well about 3 months ago it started acting up. The phone will freeze and I have to hit the power button and unlock it again. Sometimes it freezes before I can even type in my password. Now, It won't do anything. The buttons and notification lights work but the screen is pitch black. When I take the battery out and put it back in and turn it on, the screen is fuzzy and it just starts doing the same thing again. Someone please help!!!

Can you get into recovery mode? It will involve booting while holding one or more keys down (for a Samsung I think it will be "volume up" plus either power or power + home). If you can get into recovery you can try a factory reset. That may help if it's a software problem, won't if it's hardware. If it is fuzzy & unresponsive in recovery mode then it's not software.

If it's hardware the only thing you can do is get it repaired.

Personally I suspect it is hardware. Software problems do not usually get progressively worse like this.
