Root Unroot before returning Droid to Verizon?

I searched but I am apparently just not searching the right string of words, so I apologize in advance.

I am getting a warranty replacment Droid tomorrow because of what seems to be a bad audio jack. (It crackles a lot very loudly.)

Anyway, do I need to worry about unrooting before I default it and send it back to Verizon?

yes, unless you want them to bill you the full retail price for voiding the warranty of the rooted droid.

If your returning it to a store definitely unroot. If you're mailing it in you would be on the safe side unrooting but I don't know that they would check (provided your rooted and still on stock). I have seen it sent in unrooted and rooted without any problems so depends on what your willing to risk.

All in all sinful dragon is probably giving you the safest advice (I'm just playing devil's advocate.)

mixed opinions.. but I wouldn't. I am of the opinion that (1) they dont care (2) dont have the man power to test for that or even take the time to look into settings to see if it has been (3) already agreed to the warranty so will just try to fix it which will mean they flash it back to stock anyway and give it to someone else (4) root is software, audio jack is hardware issue

Thanks all. I may just unroot it after I format it if it is easy. What is the currently easiest way to do this?

ROM Manager would be the easiest way I can think of doing it. You can flash rooted or unrooted stock Froyo with it.
