Root Unroot : ENG S-OFF

How would I go about unroot when I have eng s off? Nothing as of yet, but just interested in this matter

If you want to unroot, you would be best just running an RUU... it doesn't matter about ENG S-Off... I don't think that any phone company would even look at that. If the phone works, I don't think they would even dig any further than that! :)

If you were worried, you should be able to use the ENG S-Off tool to go back to S-On and then run the RUU to go back to stock :)

I must of missed one of your messages, looking back now, and you've written the same thing :-P
Sorry!

Although I dont recall a 'back tool' in the eng s off tool

the eng hboot is easily overwritten, unless it has been patched to protect itself from such occurances(i dont believe it has for DHD,since radio s off is easily attained), simply by running an ruu. sometimes,if you are on a custom rom,the way the pre-update checks things,it may lock you into hboot with a security warning

running the ruu a second time should fix this,so dont panic if you see it.

if you rooted via the aahk you may be radio s-of as well,so after your ruu,if you find yourself to still be s-off,youll need to:

1)run ruu for downgrade firmware(1.32.405.6)
2)run aahk to turn s-on
3)run ruu for current firmware(may require a goldcard if you also change your CID back to stock)

Actually... yes... Scotty's correct... I remember now - it's Radio S-Off that you would need to do manually using a tool. It's been such a long time since I've even thought about this stuff and I have mixed up radio/eng s-off up!

I don't think that it would matter a great deal, but it is better to be safe than sorry!! :)

im not 100% sure how much i trust the cid getter app... i used it on all my superCIDed phones, and my rezound still showed vzw__01 even tho the getvar cid fastboot command returned the supercid of 11111111

if your cid is still ORANG001,or you use the aahk to change ot back to ORANG001,then you will need a gold card to flash a current orange RUU.

actually, you will know for sure if your CID is 11111111 or not by flashing the downgrade firmware. if your phone lets you flash the 1.32.405.6 unbranded firmware, then either: 1)you have a gold card in the phone,or 2)you are super CIDed the the cid getter is possibily reading your "bcid" or backup cid(whose function i have no idea what is)

being s-off will let you go backwares in firmware and build versions, but it wont let you flash other carriers RUUs. you need superCID for that.

so if you get a CID error when you try to downgrade, then make a gold card. do the downgrade, and run aahk to turn radio s-on,and then use the goldcard again to upgrade back to your current branded firmware :)

i can also give you a download and some instructions to find your cid with fastboot,if youre interested in doing that for S&Gs.

Not sure what S&Gs are but, yes please!

lol S&Gs= sh*ts and giggles

but anyway...

first download and install these drivers: revolutionary drivers

then,download this small file:
mini-adb.zip

-unzip it,and place the unzipped folder onto the root of your C drive(not inside a folder)

-open a cmd window(with win 7,click start bubble, type "command" or "cmd" in hte search box)

-now change to your mini-adb directory(assuming you didnt chagne the name). type in the black cmd window that opened on your PC:
cd c:\mini-adb

-now plug in your phone, power on into hboot, and select "fastboot" with the vol rocker/power button

-in your cmd window type:
fastboot devices

it should output your phones serial number. if so youre good to go. if not, youre apparently having a driver issue. i usually recomend these drivers from Revolutionary: modified htc drivers download and install the drivers(you should just have to run that file). afterwards, unplug your phone, plug it back in. make sure its in fastboot. as soon as you get a result from "fastboot devices" your ready to procede to the next step.

-in your cmd window, type(or copy/paste,is much easier):
fastboot getvar all

-copy the info that outputs here. right click in your cmd window, click mark, highlight it all in white. hit enter. paste the info here. :)

Mehta - I am relatively sure that the AAHK gives you super CID... I rooted a mates phone using the AAHK and then used the Unbranded Sense 3.0 RUU to put him back to unbranded stock, so he could give the phone to a mate who was with O2... if the phone didn't have Super CID, then I wouldn't have been able to flash it with an unbranded RUU.
