Root Unroot help

Hey guys, I had first rooted my phone back with the 5.5.886 version using pete's motorola tool. Im trying to unroot it so i can update to 902 but everytime i try it fails on step 3 which is (unfreezing apps). It comes up saying it has failed and gives me this Error:
adb could not be granted root access

I have tried forcing stop with super user then trying and is still unsuccessful. Any help please? It would be greatly appreciated!

Are you still on 5.5.886?

any ideas would be a great help thanks

you should not have to unroot to update just unfreeze all the bloat. If you want you can always flash the 5.9.902 fxz file with rsdlite and reroot. This will wipe everything on your phone but your external SD card. If you do this make a back up of all your apps with titanium backup, flash the fxz and then restore your apps .

How would i go about unfreezing all the bloat? IIRC, i put all those files into a certain folder? Do i have to move them back, then after the update freeze them?

Im not sure if i would go re root it after the update. I never really got into all the root stuff and would rather have it stock incase i need to bring it into verizon for whatever reason.

The flashing to 5.9.902 sounds good as well. Is it harder to flash with rsdlite then unfreeze all the apps?

Sorry for the noob questions. Never really been into the android side of things

What I would do if I wanted to go to un-root-ed 5.9.902 is not popular to many people's thinking.

I would look at it as an opportunity to clean up and establish a known base for the future. I would then ...

Flash to 5.9.902
Install all apps from scratch (downloading them from Android Market)
Use it as an opportunity to not install apps that "I always meant to delete that one but never got around to it".

There are a number of reasons to root. Root-ing brings with it responsibility and the opportunity for self-inflicted problems. If you don't have a good reason to root ... don't.

I agree with Thom, I reflash all the time because I am always trying new thins out and have to start over ( clean slate). I can reflash and set back up in about 30 mins. I do use titanium back to keep track of all my apps and restore the data to a few of them.
