Root UNROOT Manually

Hey guys just wanted to add this to the forum, maybe even get it stickied.

Before you attempt this make sure you unfreeze or restore any system apps you removed when rooted.

To manually Unroot your Droid 3:

1. Download "Android Terminal" from Play Store
2. Start the Terminal and make sure you are at a # sign. (If not type "su")
3. Type "mount -o remount,rw /dev/block/system /system"
4. Type "rm /system/app/Superuser.apk"
5. Type "rm /system/bin/su"
6. Type rm /system/xbin/busybox (if applicable)

Most people unroot because they need to send the phone back for a warranty exchange, you will need to factory wipe the phone to do this:

1. Power off
2. Power on + "x" key (hold until you see the triangle and ! sign)
3. Press both volume buttons at the same time.
4. wipe cache partition
5. wipe data/factory reset

You should be good to go. Nothing to buy, no one-clicks to have to deal with.

You may want to add:

This part would only be necessary if you wanted to unroot and wipe data. You can leave data and still be unrooted and should be just fine.

Also, you can do the same by restarting the phone and doing settings->privacy->factory data reset. Also, I am pretty sure that wiping the cache partition is redundant in this case; unless I am mistaken, a wipe data/factory reset will also wipe the /cache partition.

One last thing: before unrooting, people should unfreeze or restore any apps that were removed in a debloating process.

Hi... I'm rooting my phone only to install an antitheft app to system, so it can survive the phone reset.
- Can I unroot my phone while keep that antitheft in system? Because I think unroot will make it harder for the thief to uninstall my anthitheft app.
- What happen if I'm not restore any factory system apps that I have removed?
