Root Unroot without losing data?

I am wainting to use the SkyGo app but it complains that it will not work on rooted devices.

Since I have no need for root at the moment I want to un-root it but I would rather not wipe everything out since last time my backup failed.

I am using stock Jellybean 4.2.1 and just want to un-root and nothing more, is it possible?
I did try using voodoo to temporarily un-root but Sky Go wasn't fooled :(

I believe you can, your unlocked right. check the root section I'm sure the answer is there & I'll have a look for you too ;)

Yes I'm unlocked.
There are plenty of ways to un-root but it seems they all involve flashing the stock ROM which will wipe data.

Last time I did it and restored from a backup, half my apps were missing and most of the settings of the ones I had were reset.
Not only that, all the Bad Piggies game data my young son had worked hard on was gone. Now he has worked through it all again I can't face wiping out all his progress again.
So will have to do without Sky Go it seems :(

Just lock the bootloader and go into your Su apps settings and disable it. For all functional purposes your unrooted.

Surely locking the bootloader wipes data, just like unlocking does?

In any case, I have taken the steps of using voodoo to temporarily disable root and have remove both busybox and suspersu from the Nexus completely but it still says it is rooted.

I am assuming I would have to truly reset the tablet to default, un-rooting AND re-locking the bootloader.

Well I tried the app on my Nexus 4, which is NOT rooted and WOW! what an appalling app!
I'm glad I didn't go to the trouble of un-rooting and wiping the N7 :)

No, locking does not wipe
