Root unrooted and with questions

So I was rooted...for 20min. Then noticed a few apps didnt run right, my phone no longer vibrated. So I said forget it and unrooted via Odin. I have nothing left that I can see in the applications or anything else that indicates a root. But when I use a few applications it warns me of being unrooted could cause problems with the applications security.

anything I need to also do? I dont forsee having any warranty issues of any type...but just in case.

i did this
Odin Restore files to get you to stock - xda-developers

Ok so not good. I did all the steps but I cannot send or recieve txt. the ones I send go to the user blank, and I just plain wont get the ones others send.... Help?

You may have flashed an inappropriate ROM for your phone. Make sure that if you have the DJ05 modem that you flash a DJ05 ROM and not a DI01, etc.

So far what I have done was rooted then unrooted using the procedure I listed. I've been able to get into my phone each time haven't bricked it. I've wiped it completely all the original widgets and things are there but still cant text...my phone appears to be EXACTLY the way i bought it

Well my phone was trying to push a OTA...looks like DI01 but kept failing. before i rooted I did the newest oTA DL09 or w/e.

I'd love to be rooted but some of the stuff just confuses me lol.

baseband DL09
buildnumber dh12

You have the dl09 radio....therefore you can't get the ota....you ll need to flash either the all in one dio1 file or the dio1 radio

Sorry to sound much like a noob, I'm goign to wait and do more reading before I try rooting again. But once on the wipe to the dio1. otas can be sent and I'll be able to update again right?

So I'm trying to figure out where I went wrong and what I can do so I can root. I followed How to Root - Android Forums

then got clockwork mod.
Clockworkmod installation how to for windows / *nix - xda-developers

thats as far as I went. Didnt get into the ROMS or Kernals.

I was reading:

Before I get into that, you should know about
DJ05, DL09
As you browse the forums you'll probably see stuff saying DI01, DJ05, and DL09 and junk like that. Basically these are kind of, but not really, updates (think of them like firmwares, even though its not firmware) for the phone that arent "officially" released by vzw. That improve some of the phone's functions such as cell reception, GPS reception, ect. As far as I know most phones out of the box come with DI01.

Upgrading to the newer DJ05 and DL09 can be done, but you can only install themes and roms that are compatible with the corresponding version. (Ex. A DI01 Theme will only work on a phone with DI01)
If you want to upgrade these (its optional, but I personally recommend it).
A lot of people are reporting DL09 to work better, some are reporting it to make things worse. So it's up to you to decide which works better for you.
Running DJ05 themes and Roms are said to work with DL09 with few issues as there aren't huge differences between the two.

To check what you are running on your phone- open Settings > About Phone > Scroll to the bottom where it says "Build Number SCH-I500.xxxx" the xxxx is where it will say DI01, DJ05, or DL09.

These updates also include a radio, which is the phone's programming that it uses to communicate with your cell service. Those are flashed via Odin, the same way you installed clockworkmod.

The version of your radio can also be verified in Settings > About Phone > "Baseband version"

It is required that you install the Radio, Rom, AND kernel initially(in the thread below). However you can use other roms and kernels that are for DJ05.

DJ05 is here:

DL09 is here:

Now moving on...

First thing is a ROM - Basically in the phone world these are packages of data that contain mostly all of your stuff on the phone such as apps, settings, contacts, and all sorts of other data. The devs here at XDA develop custom roms that are streamlined and reconfigured to work better than the stock ones. They also remove all the junk apps that Verizon and Samsung include on the phone including satan himself - Bing.

There are a lot of roms available, you just have to search around the forums here for them.
Some of the most common ones are:

Jt's Superclean -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ght=superclean
Blackhole - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ight=blackhole
Superdark - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ight=superdark
Zinc - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...=fascinate+rom

DL09 Superclean - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910921

Some roms also include themes (Superdark for example), themes are basically just re-skins or recreations of the android UI, which are usually more intuitive and customized than the stock ones. You can always try different themes with almost any rom, its up to you which ones you like.

So since I was already on the DI09 from the OTA. I would only need to DL the system/kernel not the radio since I already had it? Then get DL09 Superclean - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=910921 or one of the others right? Then my vibrate and everything would work again?
