Unrooted phone problem

I just unrooted my Hero with Z4Root because my phone kept resetting itself randomly and my computer wouldn't sync or even recognize it connected. After unrooting, my phone is stuck on the white "HTC" screen. I have looked through many threads and tried holding the volume down button for close to a minute without success. I've let it try to reboot itself, which didn't work. Do I need to have my phone formatted?

Try booting into recovery and wiping the cache and Dalvik cache. If that does not work, then you might have to flash your ROM again.

You could also try restoring your handset back to an older Nandroid backup if you made one. That would be the first thing to try after the wiping I mentioned above.

Thank you. I did try a restore point. Took me back before I rooted. Had to factory reset and still phone restarts on its own and doesn't connect to my pc. I am about to throw this thing through a window!

I am not sure how your Nandroid backup could have possibly have taken you back to before you were rooted. You need to be rooted to flash the recovery to be able to even make the Nandroid backup. :D

Do you have any newer Nandroid backups you can try? I suggest you find a custom ROM you like, as well as the GApps, put it on your microSD card and then fully wipe your handset and flash those files to get things back in order. ;)
