Root Unrooting a Fascinate w/ no knowledge

Aight... I have a Fascinate (well 2 actually but I'm talking about only one of them here ;) ) that is rooted. It is currently running ICS 4.0.1, and when I boot it up it says "CynogenMod" or something like that. That is all I know about this phone because I bought it like this.

I need to return it to stock for my dad. He's gonna take over once I figure this out.

I have NO IDEA what any of these rooting terms mean, like I said, I bought the phone like this. I bought it because I wanted to play with the ICS operating system, then I was going to sell it. But now that's changed, it's a long story that ends with my dad taking this stock Fascinate (hopefully)

I checked out the sticky post at the top but I immediately got clueless. I do see OI file manager and Superuser in my application drawer but that's it.

Will a factory reset work? I'm tempted to try it and see what happens...

A factory reset will not rid your phone of root, it pretty much just clears personal data and settings.

To do this, you'll need Odin.

What you'll want to do after snagging Odin is download this file. It is the latest OTA for the Fascinate, stock and unrooted.

Then, download this file. It allows your phone to be repartitioned, which is what you want, having come from a Cyanogenmod rom.

Oh, and make sure you have the correct drivers for your phone. If you're not sure, use this.

Once you've got the correct drivers, here's what you'll want to do.

1) Power off your phone and pull the battery out. Leave it out.

2) While pressing the Volume Down button, plug the phone into your computer. Keep holding that volume button until you see a yellow sign and the word "Downloading..."

3) Open up Odin. If everything is working right, you should see a yellow box that says COM and some number in it. If not, try a different cable or a different USB port on your computer. If it works, continue to step 4, if not, I don't know how to help you.

4) Click the pit button and navigate to your atlas_v2.2.pit file.

5) Click the PDA button and navigate to your CI500_VZW_EH03_GB_CM.tar.md5 file.

6) Once both files are in place, click Start.

It takes a while to work, but once it's done, it should reboot. Once it boots back up, you'll be at stock, unrooted with Gingerbread running on your Fascinate.
