unwanted ad upon starting

i am new in this forum. i just traded in my s9 to note 10. In the note 10, Each time I start the phone, there are several popup unwanted ads that I have to close before I can use the other functions of the phone. I tried everythings mentioned online and Youtube, all failed. I wonder if I can format the hard disk, but it would destroy the factory setting. Is that anyways that I can preserve the factory setting and format the hard drive of the phone?

the point that @Dannydet was trying to make is that your android phone is much different then your typical pc. there is no hard drive. your phone's internal storage is partitioned into different spaces. you have space for your android os to run and then you have your internal storage. you can format an sd card to act as your internal storage, if you run out of space. but a factory reset will delete all data. however, you can use samsung's smart switch to backup most of your data and save it to your computer.

used the smart switch, i back up the data to SD of the phone and reset the the phone. after doing that, there is no adware and i am happy with that. i skipped the restoration of the data from the SD for fear or the adware is hiding in the SD data. is there anyway one can restore the data but filter out the adware?

you just need to find the app that caused it. adware is not stored in data. it is an app that is installed onto your device.

you are better off factory resetting and loading from scratch. you'll probably never find the app thats causing your issues.
that is exactly what i did and i no longer have the trouble, what are relief, just imagine i need to close three ads each time when starting the phone. lucky me that in the old phone it was so set up that all photos and docs were stored in the sd card so when i put it in the new one, they are all there..
thanks for all.
