Unwanted SamMobile notifications

AZgl1500

Extreme Android User
In the last two weeks, I have been receiving unwanted notifications from SamMobile.

I do not have any SamMobile apps on my phone. The notifications only appear in the notifications pull down panel. there is no SMS message from SamMobile.

anyone else getting these?
it is irritating to be getting spam that can't seemingly be filtered out.
AdBlock Plus is not catching it.

I regretted not doing the screenshot BEFORE my finger touched the notification.
It tried to open something, but growled at me because it could not find an internet connection.

My internet is always OFF, unless I know that I will be cruising the airwaves.

i promise to get the screenshot first, then make sure DATA is turned ON, and then touch the notification and see where it goes.

I was just in a "funk pissed off mode". I simply do not like unwanted annoyances... in my house, I get growled at loudly when the phone makes beeps. My hearing is about 25% down from "normal" whatever that means..... and I have all of the volume sliders on MAX.

The wife, on the other hand, can hear a mouse walking in the other end of the house. :(

Hmm do you have a screenshot mate?
Sammobile.com are usually quite a trustworthy and respected site.
Would be a shame if they were resorting to tactics like this..
PS when you long-press on the notification, does it take you to an app in app manager?
If not, try running this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.denper.addonsdetector and see what it finds

that is a handy little app:
No Push
No Shortcuts
SamMobile does not show up in "Installed Date" list

Permissions Explorer will keep you busy for a long time if you wish to follow all of that up.

Well, it took a while, but SamMobile did it again.
Here is a series of 4 screenshots showing the progression of events.

1 - The Notification Panel

2 - Long Press brought up default browser and this page. Note the date of the Article Referenced. 2014.03.24 which just happens to be the date this appeared on my phone late last night. At least I remembered to do screenshots...

3 - Exiting brought up this page for Vitamins Android style

4 - Another Notification Panel shot to see what Addons Detector found, nothing relating to SamMobile.

I have visited SamMobile's site to see if I can login and change my profile. Nothing there for me to do.

Anyone else had this experience? It's just aggravating and unwanted, fortunately it does not show up everyday.

The irritating thing is, the Notification Panel icon for SamMobile goes away the very 1st time you access it. I wanted to get a "LongPress" and find out what the underlying driver app is, but it went to the browser/link.

Is this to do with the ongoing problem of Google's ads being less than desirable, being hijacked.

I don't know, I don't pay any attention to "in app" adverts, most of the free apps have them either across the top, or across the bottom.

For a few of my important apps, for mapping and GPS services, I pay for the premium versions to get rid of the adverts.

Tonight, I was chasing down a problem with an app gone awry and while drifting down through PlayStore Apps All,
I just happened to catch an app labeled SamMobile Vitamins.
hmmmm, wonder if that has something to do with it?

I don't know, but I uninstalled "Vitamins" and if the above mentioned Notifications never show up again, I will assume that they came from this app.
