Update Android on Non-Sprint HTC Hero

I have an HTC Hero from a different provider than Sprint-- when the update to Android came out last week, I assumed my provider would also have the update ready to download, but they do not. Is there any way to update Android, independent of carrier?

Go to the Hero and Sprint Hero Forums. You might get an answer there just by reading through.

The sprint phones are actually a little different to the rest of the HTC Heroes, and so far none of the non-sprint ones have got the update.
