Android Question

Hi I am wondering if it is possible to update the android version on the Arnova 7h g3 tablet. Maybe to jelly bean?

Thanks in advance

Android has to be built for the particular device - there's no generic android distribution you can install on all devices because they all have different hardware. Hence for updates there are 2 options:

1) An official update from the manufacturer. Generally these are distributed over the internet. Go into Settings > About and select "software updates". This will tell you whether there is an update available, and if so give you the option to download and install it.

Some manufacturers (also) make them available via their website. I've checked Arnovatech's website, and the downloads section seems to be here: ARNOVA. At the moment I can't see a download for that model though (do not attempt to download and install system software for a different model).

2) If no update is available officially, you may be able to install a newer version is somebody else has built one for that device. This is called a "custom ROM". In order to do this you need to "root" the device (gain administrator access). Before doing this, do find out whether a suitable ROM actually exists though.

Rooting will void your warranty, and unofficial modifications like this are done at your own risk. The procedures for doing this stuff vary between devices, and I've no experience with Arnova tablets so can't tell you how. If you wish to do this, it's important to learn and understand what you need to do before starting.

We do have a discussion area for Archos Arnova 7 series devices, but to be honest it is not a particularly active area of androidforums.
