My S2 has v4.0.4 installed. Just been looking at the menus. I see there is no "Update phone" item in the "About phone" menu. How will I be able to upgrade the firmware when v.4.2 is available. Does this mean that upgrades are only going to be available through Kies? - if it is, then that's me stuffed. My computer gives the dreaded USB Error discussed elsewhere in these forums. Even by plugging and unplugging the phone on numerous occasions, the phone finally loads into Kies, but the firmware is always blank...

Software update in the menu was for OTA updates which a lot of operators do not support and I am given to understand that Jelly Bean will not be available OTA anyway because of the nature of the update. See, here.
If you cannot connect to Kies then you will have to download and flash the firmware via Odin as per the thread, here, when it is released for your handset.
